This Privacy Policy explains how Oasis AI Checker, operated by Oasis ("Oasis," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, browser extension, account dashboard, support portal, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account or sign in, we collect information such as your email address, password hash, account role, session information, and account creation date. We do not store your password in plain text.

Authentication and device information

We process authentication tokens and a device identifier so we can keep you signed in, enforce license and device limits, prevent unauthorized access, and provide account security. The device identifier is generated for the extension installation and is not intended to identify the physical device owner outside the Service.

Text submitted for analysis

When you request an analysis, the extension sends the text you selected, pasted, or extracted from a webpage to Oasis servers. We use that text only to perform the requested AI-writing analysis and return the result. Oasis does not sell submitted text or use it for advertising.

Usage and technical information

We may collect limited technical and usage information needed to operate the Service, including analysis timestamps, character counts, license identifiers, device identifiers, error information, browser-extension version, and server request information. We do not use the extension to track your general browsing history.

Subscription and payment information

Subscription checkout and payment processing are handled by Square. Oasis may receive payment-related records such as customer, order, subscription, plan, payment status, and renewal information. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number through the extension.

Support information

If you submit a support ticket, we collect the ticket topic, subject, message, account email, status, priority, replies, and timestamps so we can respond and maintain a support history.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

• Provide AI-writing analysis requested by the user.
• Create and manage accounts, sessions, subscriptions, licenses, and device access.
• Process and reconcile subscription status through Square.
• Prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and duplicate processing.
• Respond to support requests and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Maintain, secure, measure, and improve the reliability of the Service.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.

3. Browser extension permissions

The Oasis AI Checker extension requests only permissions needed to provide its core function:

• Storage: saves authentication state, device information, and extension preferences.
• Active tab and scripting: lets the extension access the active supported page and display the analysis interface when the user initiates or enables the feature.
• Host access: allows operation on supported Canvas LMS pages and secure communication with Oasis authentication and analysis servers.

The extension does not download or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. All executable extension code is included in the extension package. Oasis servers return analysis results as data.

4. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information only with:

• Service providers: infrastructure, database, hosting, payment, security, and support providers that help us operate the Service, including Vercel, Railway, Neon, and Square.
• Legal and safety recipients: when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, Oasis, or the public.
• Business successors: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We require service providers to process information only for legitimate operational purposes and not for their own advertising or unrelated purposes.

5. Data retention

We retain account, license, subscription, device, support, and usage records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security and transaction records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Text submitted for analysis is processed to generate the requested result and is not intended to be retained as a permanent copy in the Oasis application database. Temporary processing, security logs, and backups may persist for limited periods consistent with operational and legal requirements.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network connections, hashed passwords, authenticated API requests, restricted administrative access, and device-based license controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information, subject to applicable law and legitimate record-retention requirements. You may also stop extension data collection by signing out, disabling the extension, or uninstalling it. Subscription cancellation is managed through the applicable Oasis account or support process.

8. Children

The Service is designed for educators and institutions and is not directed to children for independent consumer use. Educators and institutions are responsible for using the Service in accordance with applicable student privacy laws and their own policies. Do not submit student information beyond what is necessary for the requested analysis.

9. AI-analysis notice

AI-writing detection can produce false positives and false negatives. Results are probabilistic and should not be treated as definitive proof of authorship or misconduct. Users should apply independent judgment and follow applicable institutional procedures.

10. International processing

Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where Oasis or its service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the Service or by email when appropriate.
